Very good food. The steaks are good, the Friday bluegill is unbeatable in Eau Claire and the chef specials are always unique and delicious. They have good beers on tap and the best bartender in the area. It is a little expensive for the amount of food but sometimes you have to pay a little more for the exquisite dining experience.

Good bar area with import beers and good Cheese Curds. Has two seating areas for diner, one that is often reserved for large groups or parties. Service is always friendly and the food of high quality. This is a good place for that 'special' dinner with friends and family, otherwise it can be a little pricey. I do miss the dance floor...now covered by carpet and a larger lounge area.

Best burger I've had in Eau Claire! I had the "garlic something" burger. Can't remember the name exactly but I loved it. My brother had it too and thought it was too sweet. He leans towards the spicy foods. I will be back when it's time for another burger.

The best food in town. Higher class than pub food, delicious specials, really good seafood. Well worth the money (although nearer the $30 end of the $$ range). We eat at Houligans when we have a special occasion, or friends / family in town, and every time we've gone everyone has been genuinely delighted with their food. The service is quality, the atmosphere is classy without being snooty. If you prefer some nights there's a fun show with dinner in the back room. Also, the chocolate mint things they bring with the bill are delicious.

My husband and I were in town unexpectedly, and chose this place because of the good reviews. Houligans did not disappoint. I had the 3oz Filet, because I wanted to leave room for a salad and appetizer. The steak was done perfectly. The mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables were delicious. The best part was the garlic butter! A very good value for the money.

Ribeye to die for. Prime rib was sent back as not rare enough for me at 7pm,Sat. Accomodating waitstaff. Host was very attentive , gave great suggestions. Pomegranate Cosmo w/ Pama was super good.

Celebrated our anniversary today at Houligans. Great service (thanks Betty). Food cooked to perfection. Always a treat to eat here.

We had some drinks and appetizers. All good, but nothing special. But, we were well taken care of (thanks to Mariah). Not sure we will ever return to Eau Claire - find your way over here for first class, friendly service and atmosphere.

Delicious combo consisting of their 3 oz filet cooked to perfection and a smaller version of their seafood bake as a side. The delicious seafood bake is made with large shrimp, chunks of lobster meat and portobello mushrooms. Very rich dish. Great service and quiet atmosphere rounded out a perfect evening in downtown Eau Claire.

Service was less than average, food was just okay and what's with all the candied stuff on salads and side dishes. According to the bartender, it's the chef's thing... get a new chef!

I have traveled the world and just had the best hamburger of my life! The service was exceptional and the beer and wine selections are outstanding! Lots of other great entrees, as well!

Had a wonderful late dinner tonight with my family. We tried the sausage tortellini, panko crusted horseradish salmon, and a grilled chicken Caesar salad. Everything was so yummy. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable dinner especially because of our wonder waitress, Betty. She was so sweet, accommodating, and friendly. Will definetely be back when we are in town. Thank you Betty you were the Best!

It's good but it's not amazing. True, it is probably one of the nicest restaurants in Eau Claire, but it's pretty much average steak and seafood from any typical chain like Perry's, McCormick & Schmick's, etc. I gave it 4 stars instead of 3 for their perpetually rotating collection of draft beers, including Chimay and the amazing Devil's Eggs topped with caviar. It was so delicious that even after a full meal, I had 2 orders to go. Their famous candied garlic sauce didn't have a lot of flavor for me personally. Their prosciutto wrapped filet was a great concept but I didn't taste the prosciutto and the filet had a dry texture. The seafood is very fresh and the martinis are ok but in a city where good draft beer is $2, $7.50/martini in a small glass is pushing it. I'd def visit again for the seafood and fresh draft beers. I think I just ordered the wrong things my first time around.

Went there last night (Wed) with my wife on her 68th birthday. I had a 20 oz dark beer like a Heffe. It was great. My wife's drink was also very good. She had crusted salmon & I had the Mediterranean shrimp. They were both excellent. The waitress with the short legs (as she puts it) did a great job and never rushed us. She is a asset to the business. The presentation of the food & temperature of everything was perfect. The food was pricey, but worth every dollar.. I think a small salad or a cup of soup should be included with a dinner. We will definitely be back again. I would of liked another beer, but had to drive to Lake Wissota.

Best burgers anywhere. Good meat and seafood if a bit pricey. Eat up front, never eat at a show in the back room. Service in the dining room is great, service in the back room is spotty at best.

Came here for an anniversary dinner and went all out. I started with the cheese curds, which came with some of the best ranch that I have ever had. It was very fresh and creamy. The curds were pretty good too. They use actual cheese curds instead of the blocks of cheese you get at many other places in town. Then I had the blackened pork chops. They were cooked fantastically and the seasoning was great. The mashed potatoes that came with it were delicious as well. It also came with a side ceasar salad that was very well put together. It had a deviled egg with caviar on top with was a nice addition to the tangy egg. I then topped it off with a grasshopper and lava cake. The lava cake was pretty good, but it came with a chocolate dipped spoon that added a nice flavor to every bite. I ended up using it on the grasshopper. I had never had a grasshopper previously, but it was a very delicious after dinner "drink" especially coupled with the chocolate dipped spoon. There was also a good selection of beers on tap with a concentration on microbrews.

Based on service and quality of food I always choose Hooligan's over any other 'fine dining' option in Eau Claire. Service is consistently good. The know how to blend flavors and create amazing dishes - no freezer food here! The candied garlic sauce is to-die-for, and you can even take a jar of it home to impress your friends. I have also tried the chocolate lava cake and it was probably the best restaurant dessert I have EVER had. This is a great restaurant for groups as they have a wonderful back room and put on a great buffet for events like rehearsal dinners, alumni gatherings, etc.

Good service, and a solid kitchen to back it. They have a fairly diverse menu, and a nice wine list too. One of the top 10 in Eau Claire! The layout is cool, and feels much bigger than it looks.

I haven't eaten at Houligans. My parents have and love it, but I don't give stars based on someone else's opinion. Here's why I am giving them 5 stars: accommodation and service. My dad was celebrating his birthday by going out with friends to Houligans. As a surprise, I wanted to pay for a bottle of wine and have it waiting for them on the table with a note. I called from Texas and they were really easy to work with. They gave me a wide variety of choices, took my payment and assured me everything would be taken care of. And it was. Perfectly.

Go here for the candied garlic sauce--you will not be disappointed. Easily the best steak joint in Eau Claire.
(5)Mitchell F.
Food is good but way over priced. Can get the same $30 Ribeye steak anywhere else for half the cost. Also was charged $5 for a side of French dressing to go along with the $12 salad. Service was also spotty as we did not see our waitress for over 45 minutes with six empty wine glasses. We will not be visiting again. Spend your money at Stella blues for more of a variety for your dollar.

I've eaten at Houligans a few times, and absolutely love it. The first time, I got a tortellini pasta dish, which was great, but I really should've ordered what my mom got. My mom got one of the stars of the restaurant: the candied garlic burger. They have a patented candied garlic sauce that is for sale in jars there also. I am obsessed with this sauce, and I always have some in my fridge. They also put it on a steak, and I have yet to try that, but it is so amazing. The service is always great, the staff is always friendly, and I have never had a bad meal there.

Nice Pub atmospher in the Center of Eau Claire. They have adecent selection of beers. I had one of their steaks, it was very good. The service is friendly and fast.

There are three restaurants in town worthy of the highest ratings (Stella Blues, Mona Lisa' and Houligans) in their cuisine type. Houligans is at the top of the traditional steak and seafood experience. The setting Is one of genuine history with a old chop house feel. We've eaten here on many occasions with large groups as well as just a couple and can honestly say that we've never had a meal that wasn't worth the experience. They have a great variance of beer and ales and an eclectic range of wines. Try their house salad as a side as we believe it to be the best in town. Seafood specials are always something to take note of and steaks are very good. Chef Guy is high calibre. Hope he brings back his cedar planked salmon! Also, when the Copper River salmon is available it is a must. The waitstaff is seasoned and consistently prompt and available but discreet. They all have worked together for years. Regarding pricing, we'd all like to pay less but not at the cost of losing this treasure.

Took advice as the best burger in town and it did not disappoint. Great burger smothered in a flavorful sauce. Cheese curds were great as well. Quality service and has two bars that combines for a great atmosphere. Pork chop was excellent as well. Will be back when in eau Claire.
(4)Nate S.
Clearly the best fillet mignon in the city and lots of other great food selections with a decent selection of beer as well. Used to be a bar, atmosphere is pretty good despite this.
